I met Nancy on the school bus, on the first day of school, of first grade.  We rode the bus together every day until the first day of school of seventh grade.

I don't recall us ever being on the same bus after that and we were never again in class together.  It's funny how you could lose track of people in those big schools, only occasionally seeing one another in the halls.

i moved away for college in '73 and from Butler permanently in '76. While  attending a BHS reunion in ~'96, I learned of Nancy's passing and called her child-hood  family home a few days later.  Her Mother still lived there and told me that Nancy had died of colon cancer several years earlier, though I don't recall the year.

Nancy was the first friend I made in school. I remember her as a childhood friend, a sweet girl, with a mischievous smile.

As with so many of our classmates I read about here, she died much too young.

until we meet on that ride of life's next journey......

I knew Nancy for many many years, largely through school. We didn't run in the same circles but we always considered each other friends. At least in my case, she liked to tease, but I didn't really mind it.
