Richard Simeon Nixon, 69, of Butler, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Pittsburgh, on July 18, 1952, he was a son of the late Simeon and Dorothy Grimes Nixon.
Rich was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a hospital corpsman stationed at Patuxent River, Md.
He was a former licensed practical nurse. His greatest reward was working as a hospice nurse.
Rich was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. An animal lover, he especially loved spoiling his dogs, Steeler and Chloe.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Pappalard Nixon, whom he married Feb. 12, 1993; three sisters, Dorothy "Bo" Woodrow and her husband, Jim, Patricia Williams, and Pam Neely and her husband, Dave; two brothers, William Nixon and his wife, Danell, and Charles Nixon; one brother-in-law, William Spohn; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pappalard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy E. Spohn.
The Nixon family extends special thanks to the entire staff of VNA Hospice for their compassionate and professional care.

Rich and I were friends. I left Butler in early 70's and never talked with him after that. My fondest memory of Rich was on the weekend before I left Butler. He rearended me while driving my Dad's 66 Plymouth. We had a lot of explaining to do but in the end it was all good.  RIP Rich.
